New Facility Planning Application Approved

BaseballMK moved a step closer to getting the keys on their new 4.5 million pound sports facility.

BaseballMK in partnership with Milton Keynes Rugby Club filled the public gallery at the Civic Offices of Milton Keynes Council as the plans for their new facility went before the Planning Committee.

The local residents had objected to the facility even though it had been ear-marked as a sports facility as far back as 1986, on the grounds of Light pollution / Traffic Congestion & Alcohol licensing (the affects from it).

However Milton Keynes Council (the principal of the project) had done their homework and got every base covered.

The meeting was not looking in the projects favour when Councillors addressed the meeting; however when it came to the vote the voting went in our favour.

BaseballMK’s General Manager Keith Sherman said it was a significant time for British Baseball whereby we could have a facility that would not only facilitate Milton Keynes but could be offered to the Great Britain Squads and have the ability to host tournaments both National and International.

Keith Sherman on behalf of BaseballMK would like to thank all you that responded to his request to send in emails/letter to the Planning Officer in support of this application.

A special thank you needs to go to the unsung heroes like Debra O’Sullivan who attended public meetings and face the wrath of the residents and Robert Hodgson who was behind the scenes attending meetings with the people that were instrumental in this projects fruition.

BaseballMK would accordingly like to invite everyone to the grand opening (date to be announced) where we will look to put on a couple of exhibition games to christen the diamond.

Again thank you for your support
Keith Sherman
