The Milton Keynes Hurricanes suffered a hard luck loss to the top the table Birmingham Maple Leafs on Sunday, in a gripping game at Woughton On The Green. Both teams got off to quick starts. The Maple Leafs scored seven runs in the first inning, but the Hurricanes answered with five runs in the second, a rally that was capped by a Jacob Michels home run. The teams traded blows throughout the next few innings, until Darrin Ward and Andrew Larwill crossed the plate in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game up at nine. The Maple Leafs retook the lead in the eighth inning, with three runs. The Hurricanes retaliated with two runs in the bottom of the inning, Graham Crabb driving them in with a single. However, despite their best efforts, the Milton Keynes Hurricanes could not complete a come back for the second time, with the run that would have tied the game remaining elusive. The final score was 12-11 to the Maple Leafs.
