BaseballMK Warhawks hosted a tri-tournament on Saturday against Bracknell and Tonbridge at Woughton on the Green. The Warhawks fielded a weaker team with several key players unavailable due to injuries, but went home smiling with each team winning one game each.
Game One saw a last minute change in the BMK line-up due to their closing pitcher not being available, Coach Sherman choose a developing squad and Bracknell took advantage by fielding their strongest side and taking a lead of 11-1, however in the bottom of the game BMK proved they were not going to be a walk-over and fought back with seven runs. Luke Rivens one of the teams younger members showed his potential and got on base twice scoring two runs from steals.
Game Two saw Bracknell play Tonbridge with Tonbridge being the dominant team with a win.
Game Three was Tonbridge vs. BMK with BMK leading the whole game with some excellent play from Fiona Sheppard who hit into the outfield with the ball eventually bouncing over the Home Run Fence allowing her to get to 2nd Base and two runners scoring (2 RBIs). Tonbridge had two injuries during the game and were a player short, so Josh Thompson was asked to play for them in the last innings so that the game could carry on with the right amount of players, with Josh hitting his best line drive of the season, however BMKs Stuart Swanpoel fielded it and got the out at 1st. Perrie Sherman (Scorer Nigel Sheppards MVP) stand-in closing pitcher closed the game at the top of the 6th Inning with a Warhawks win.
Coach Shermans MVP was Catcher Ben Bateman for the second week running.
The Warhawks now travel to Brighton on the 1st July.
